MP 21.48 part E (Assignment 3 #12) Practice Problem

Calculate the potential at point D.

I dont really understand what the figure is all about. And, it says that point A is grounded. What does that mean? Does it affect any other point? Can I know the potential at point B?

Thanks.

  1. So when a problem says a point is "grounded" it just means that the potential at that point is equal to zero because the wire is literally attached to the Earth. So they want to know Vd, but I know that Va=0 so I could just find Vad. I also know that the entire voltage around a loop must equal zero. That should be enough to at least get you started
